led by Lamar Pierce on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 hosted by Lopata, Flegel &
Company. Light Breakfast will be served
at 7:30 and the program begins at 8:00.
Lamar Pierce, PhD teaches Strategic Management, Non-market Strategy and Ethics at the Washington University Executive MBA Program and to government executives at the Brookings Institution. Lamar serves as the Academic Director of the joint Olin/Brookings Executive Masters of Science in Leadership.
Lamar’s research primarily focuses on how the same psychological and economic mechanisms that impact employee productivity also influence misconduct. He studies the economic and cultural effects of historical tragedy, conflict and corruption. His work has been featured in major newspapers, magazines and on National Public Radio.
His presentation aims to answer questions such as:
- How do incentives, values and biases affect decision-making processes?
- What are the main commonalities and differences of recent corporate scandals such as Enron, Madoff and sub-prime housing?
- Is it possible to adopt individual and organization strategies to prevent new ones?
Alternative theories on how to prevent and respond to corporate fraud, corruption and unethical behavior will be presented.
The seminar is free of charge, but reservations are required. Two hours of Ethics CPE for CPAs provided.
