BBQ and Picnic Bash
We all enjoyed a wonderful afternoon as the office closed early for our “BBQ and Picnic Bash”. The pot luck yielded a great variety of sides as well as a tantalizing dessert table. An assortment of beverages was on hand, including a well-aged wine from the break room. While grill masters John Guerra, Rich Prine and John Lacy braved the heat and fire of the grills, others played washers, tennis and hillbilly golf.
After the meal, it was time for the much awaited “Brad Faerber Handstand Push-up Challenge for Charity”. Staff donated money based on the number of handstand push-ups Brad could do, with the proceeds going to The Whaleman Foundation. The final count was three (with some debate) and despite being a little red in the face, Brad was glad to have raised some money for charity. When asked about his technique, Brad commented, “It’s all about balance”. In addition, Andy Vogt and Jared Fischer took on the challenge and flexed their muscles for charity, with much greater success than Brad!
Later in the afternoon, washers continued and card games begun. A softball game soon followed and as mixed teams played a spirited game, the idea of a firm softball team for next summer was discussed. In addition, for those not partaking in the picnic softball game, a knitting seminar was held by Joan Rangel; however, the idea of developing a firm knitting circle showed only minor interest! Oh, well……
