James R. Owens, CPA

Jim is a Tax Partner and heads our Tax Department. He has been with Lopata, Flegel & Company LLP since our inception in 1990. He was with our predecessor firm since 1986. Over the past 23 years, Jim has served mid-sized owner-managed companies, specializing in flow-through entities such as S-Corps, Partnerships and Limited Liability Companies.

Jim received a Bachelor of Science in Business with a major in accounting from Eastern Illinois University and a Masters of Accounting with a tax emphasis from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. While studying in St. Louis, Jim received the Pacioli Graduate Accounting Award.

Jim is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants.
